Lavinia Gallie

Lavinia uses paper handmade in southern India from cotton (Khadi). Each sheet is different; the edges are never quite straight and nor are the corners square. It is the juxtaposition of this homely shape with the very precise Modernist shapes and intense colour which give the paintings their tension.

Lavina has exhibited throughout the UK, in particular the Royal West of England Academy, Bristol, Wells Art Contemporary and The Sunday Times Watercolour Prize at the Mall Galleries. Her works are in public as well as private collections here in the UK as well as USA, Canada and Switzerland.
