This ceramic piece is part of Kate Semple's new collection for Unpolished. For this collection Kate's inspiration ranges from Ancient Roman mark making on vessels at the Ashmolean to the gentle fluidity of surface pattern from the 1920’s.

Kate's ceramics are hand built, using traditional methods of coil, slab & pinch (often all three) Kate uses a combination of glaze & Oxides applied with a brush, sometimes poured. The Japanese word sashiko translates to English as little stabs a reference to simple repetitive running stitch which Kate has referenced in the decoration of this beautiful jug.
